Introduction
The subject browser locates and displays LC subject headings, genre/form terms, demographic
group terms, children's subject headings and medium of performace thesaurus, each stored
and accessed separately via different main menu selections.
The browser is a simplified version of the subject search system
providing a single access point at a time.
Note: To access the subject search page from the subject browser, click on the Tools icon (which looks like a gear) on the right side of the blue navigation bar and select Search.
Main Menu
Choose a LC Subject browser from the main menu by clicking on the appropriate Browse link.
Alternately, use one of the Search links to run keyword and multi-field searches.

How to Browse
Select an access point and input a a subject heading with any subdivisions separated by
double dashes (--). A drop-down list of matching entries will appear.
Either select one of the items in the drop-down list or press Enter to start with the first matching term.
If you are not sure how your search term is subdivided, use the unstructured heading
access point with spaces between your terms.
For example, to search for for the subject heading Cats select the Subject heading access point and
input cats as your search term. The screen will look like this:
When you click on the entry for Cats--Anecdotes, the following list will appear:
